How does it work?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Skin Rejuvenation is a quick and easy nonsurgical treatment that applies brief pulses of light to the skin. This advanced light based technology can be used on all skin types to clear undesirable brown spots, sun damage, vessels, rosacea, and other unwanted pigmentation, without harming the surrounding skin. Pigmented areas aboard the light energy and colors are broken down and eventually absorbed, leaving you with a smoother and more even complexion.
What to expect:
During your IPL treatment, a hand piece is applied to your skin over the areas of concern. The procedures utilizing IPL technology are quick and well tolerated. You will feel a cooling sensation from the hand piece with each light pulse. Your skin may feel warm where it has been treated, but it is not uncomfortable for more than a few seconds. After the treatment, it is common to feel a mild sunburn-like sensation. Redness and slight swelling may occur, but usually resolve by the next day. Areas treated may progress to thin scabs or crusting and start flaking in 2-3 days. You will be given a post-laser cream to reduce any discomfort after each treatment to help optimize your results. A series of IPL treatments may be needed for optimal and lasting results. For most patients, this will be between 3 and 5 sessions, dependent upon each person’s skin and unique issues.
We always encourage a dedicated regimen of skin care after your treatment for indefinite maintenance of a healthy and beautiful complexion. Dr. Kipper and his staff are happy to assist you with the regimen that will work best for you.
